Darlene Nelson ’70
Honor Roll of Donors
Darlene Nelson ’70 spent her career after graduating from IC in the nonprofit world. She is a member of the Sturtevant Society and IC Society, as well as being an IC Fund and Fine Arts Series donor.
Because she is passionate about the importance of recruiting quality people, she created the annual Don P. Filson Faculty Support Award.
“I wanted the award to be for faculty who are forward thinking and will take the College forward. So that we don’t say, ‘Well, we’ve been around since 1829; we’re good.’ So we can continue on. The giving I do, hopefully it will help to attract quality faculty to the College and encourage them to look at different ways of doing things.”
Keeping up with change is key for the future of the College, she added.
“We really can’t stay where we were 50 years ago, or even 20 years ago.”
