#TogetherIC helps Illinois College students affected by pandemic
Gifts to the IC Fund make it possible to respond to students in an hour of need and demonstrate to them that our extended family of alumni and friends are a bedrock they can rely upon.
Supporters made gifts to the IC Fund to aid students coping with the sudden loss of access to food, housing, employment and the academic support that they depend on.
Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations Kris Houser ’91 explained that the campaign was developed in response to many dedicated alumni and friends of Illinois College who have contacted her office with questions about how to help students.
"During challenging times, it's important to know that you can rely on a family network,” Houser said. “That's what #TogetherIC is all about. Gifts to the IC Fund make it possible to respond to students in an hour of need and demonstrate to them that our extended family of alumni and friends are a bedrock they can rely upon."
Recent graduate Josie Garfat ’20 said that it meant the world to her to have support from the alumni community and she looks forward to providing the same assistance to future students.
“Their support has helped further my knowledge as well as gain hands-on experience throughout my time at IC,” she said. “I know I could not have received this kind of support at other institutions.”
The #TogetherIC campaign has raised more than $20,000 for the IC Fund. Houser notes that the IC Fund has always addressed students’ most immediate needs and will continue to do so during this time. Gifts will support a wide range of needs including scholarships, technology to stay connected, and day-to-day essentials including food for those students in need.
