From the President
We are having a great year on the Hilltop, both inside and outside of the classroom. I wish I could adequately convey the sense of energy in the student body. I thoroughly enjoy spending time with our students and having the chance to celebrate their successes.
The power of philanthropy is on full display in this edition of the Quarterly, which features the 2022-2023 Illinois College Impact Report. Thank you for all you do to support our students and the extraordinary legacy of Illinois College.
This annual honor roll of donors tells an important story about the generosity of our community and the many ways in which students’ lives are changed through your unwavering support.
Over 2,600 alumni, friends of the College, parents, foundations, corporations, and other organizations made gifts to Illinois College last year of over $5.8 million dollars and many more made plans for future gifts as part of their estate. I am always humbled by the news that a member of the Illinois College community has made a decision to include the College in their estate plans. Bequests received each year are accepted with gratitude and humility. It is an honor to recognize these sacred gifts and those who make them through their membership in the Sturtevant Society.
As I look back on the successes of 2022-2023 for the College made possible by support from donors, I will remember the completion of the full renovation of Crispin Hall into modern, state-of-the-art learning spaces for mathematics, computer science, physics, psychology, and neuroscience; students accepted into prestigious graduate and professional programs; growth in the College’s student-faculty summer research program; exciting BreakAway trips around the world, conference titles in athletics, and a record-breaking ALL IN FOR IC day of giving result. Philanthropic investments in academic programs have also opened doors to innovative academic programs like engineering and behavioral health.
The Hilltop always looks beautiful as winter gives way to spring. I hope you can visit campus very soon.
All the best,
Barbara A. Farley
President
