Adam Passmore ’25, a senior sports management major at Illinois College, spent his summer with the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes, a Prospect League baseball team.

But don’t call him an intern — he’s a “rookie.” The team uses the term to reflect a fresh perspective and avoid the vagueness associated with traditional internships.

Passmore's responsibilities included ticket sales, operating the Fan Cam for the Jumbotron, and even donning the team mascot costume. This internship has enhanced Passmore’s teamwork, problem-solving, and sales skills. He also completed sales training that helped him learn to "sell himself" — a skill he sees as vital for any career.

Passmore encourages Illinois College students to consider this opportunity. "It’s one of the best things you can do, especially if you're in sports management or business. It prepares you for your future and offers unforgettable experiences.”
