Payton Spann '23
A first-generation student, Payton Spann ’23 said IC made her college experience one she will never forget.
Thanks to helpful faculty and staff, the admissions and first-year process was easy for her family to navigate. Once on campus, Payton got involved in her studies, national service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega, the first-year honor society Alpha Lambda Delta and biology honor society Beta Beta Beta.
“My time at Illinois College was very special and allowed me unforgettable memories. Going to a smaller institution means you will never know a stranger walking around campus. I will forever be thankful to IC for giving me my best friends.”
Payton graduated with a BSN and hands-on experience at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. Her internship at St. John’s led to a full-time position as a registered nurse on the pediatric floor.
“The current nursing facilities at Illinois College are great. Professor Angela Bentley and the nursing faculty prepared my classmates and I immensely so that we would feel confident and be able to start our careers as soon as possible.”
