Walker Brown '25
While Walker Brown ’25 was initially drawn to Illinois College because his brother Marshall Brown ’22 attended, he ended up choosing IC because of the opportunities he would have as an agribusiness major.
Brown grew up on his family’s multi-generational farm, helping out since he was a child. At IC, Brown has been able to apply his skills as a farmer to the classroom.
This past summer, Brown had the opportunity to gain managerial experience interning at Gingerich Farms, where he honed managerial skills, leading a crew in nitrogen application for corn and managing logistics like grain hauling to St. Louis. The internship provided insight into planning and adapting operations — vital skills for future success.
“I wasn’t just working for the same farm I grew up on,” Brown notes, “I was able to visit different farms across the state, learning how they operate. It was an incredibly valuable experience.”
