Peter Simoncelli was appointed general manager at The Ritz-Carlton in Chicago, Ill.
Dennis Litteken was inducted into the Illinois Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame on April 2 in Champaign, Ill. The former Breese Mater Dei head coach is currently the school’s principaland assistant coach.
Dan Layzell has been named interim president and chief executive officer of the Louisiana State University Foundation. He will continue to serve as LSU’s vice president for finance and administration/chief financial officer during his interim role at the foundation.
Kim Still retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections in Jacksonville, Ill., after 27 years of service.

Dr. Carol Kilver received one of four international Outstanding Research Awards during the January 2017 Thinking Collaborative Leadership Symposium held in Littleton, Colo. Carol was recognized for her research examining the experiences of preservice teaching during student teaching placement. She completed her doctoral work in education at Western Illinois University in December 2016.
Debbie Rollins contributed historical information about her family and the history of the Greenfield Public Library for the recently published book, “Greene County, Illinois: History and Families.”
Anne Credi Sumpter is a strategic business partner for the Center for Creative leadership in Greensboro, N.C.
Bill Stephens works in the legal department at Stewart Title Insurance Company as a legal assistant in Addison, Ill.
Paul Johnes is the new baseball coach for Father McGivney Catholic High School in Glen Carbon, Ill.
Eric Mandell is creating a video game along the lines of “CSI” and designing the curriculum around it for a physics class he teaches, thanks to a National Science Foundation grant intended to introduce new ways of thinking about STEM pedagogy. Eric teaches in the department of physics and astronomy at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Adam Mefford was appointed police chief for the city of Jacksonville, Ill.

Dr. John Hulsen completed his residency in plastic surgery at Ohio State University in June. He began his fellowship in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery at Harvard Medical School in July.

Tony Shiffman is the new varsity football coach at Fort Madison High School in Fort Madison, Iowa.
Rebecca Vortman has been promoted as the manager of perioperative education at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in nursing administration through the University of Illinois at Chicago. She plans to graduate this December.

Lawrence Spasojevich is assistant general counsel in New York City’s Office of Labor Relations in New York, N.Y.
Leah Borrowman Wombacher is a seed service advisor supporting the Stone Seed brand at Monsanto in St. Louis, Mo.
Dr. Ashley Kort Morhardt is a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Neuroscience at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She uses an array of techniques to investigate the function and evolution of craniofacial anatomy in dinosaurs and their extant relatives. Ashley earned a Master of Science degree in biology from Western Illinois University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in ecology and evolutionary biology from Ohio University.
Mallory Thuente Bendorf offered a 10-week art and sensory class for young children and their parents this spring titled “Miss Mallory’s Art and Sensory Class.” The class, which was based in Jacksonville, Ill., allowed children to explore and discover various materials.
