Ed Stanfield ’68

donated a quartz to the chemistry department that is currently on display on the second floor of Parker. The cluster was either found or purchased by his grandparents, Frank and Bettie Theroux of Florence, Alabama, during the 1920s or 1930s in one of the western states while on a rock collecting trip.

was elected to the position of president of the Board of Directors for the Easter Cross Association, a local non-profit organization.

celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 7, 2022. Ron passed away in November 2022. 

Jim Spizzo ’74

had an exhibit opening at the Pharmacy Gallery and Art Space in Springfield on Sept. 9, 2022.

Jesse Sullivan

was a Republican candidate in the gubernatorial primary election. Jesse is the son of IC Sports Hall of Famer, Dan Sullivan ’78 and brother of K.C. Sullivan ’05 and Janelle Sullivan Zinselmeier ’08.

Dr. Jay R. Anders ’79

was awarded a Power Press Award in November 2022 for the monthly podcast he hosts, Tell Me Where IT Hurts. His show was recognized in the category of Discovery, which recognizes journalistic work that “spotlights innovation or new insights in health care.”

Chris Skinner ’88

is coaching football and working for Jacksonville High School, alongside IC alumnus Mark Grounds ’91. He was previously retired.

Kris Williams Houser ’91

was promoted to executive director of Development and Alumni Relations at SIU School of Medicine. In this role, she also serves on the executive team at the SIU Foundation-Carbondale.

Members of the Gamma Delta Literary Society reunited at Tuscan Hills Winery in Effingham, Illinois. They have been college sisters and great friends for 35 years and counting. became senior vice-president of market lead ventral and southern Illinois for SomerCor.

Sarah Wyatt Kirkpatrick ’98

started a new job as the director of the learning resource center and campus engagement for the SIUE East St. Louis Higher Education Campus.

published her first children's book, "Herbert the Edgy Hedgie," with co-author Tara Elmore. 

Lisa Seaway ’99

obtained a new certification for Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association.

Kevin Hough ’99 

was elected to chair of the board of directors for the Chicago Center for Urban Life and Culture, an organization in Chicago that has provided student teaching and internship opportunities to Illinois College students for many years.

Dan Wright ’01,

Sangamon County State’s Attorney, was named to the Supreme Court Committee on Jury Instruction in Criminal Cases.

Burel Goodin ’02,

professor in the University of Alabama at Birmingham College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Psychology, is part of a group that has been awarded $21 million from the National Institute of Health HEAL (Helping to End Addiction Long-term) Initiative to establish a new national center aimed at disseminating accurate information about the opioid crisis to the public.

was promoted to director of divisional technology and operations for the division of external relations at Illinois College.

was promoted to director of athletics at Fontbonne University.

Blake Stadel ’05

received the Silver Dome Award for Personality of the Year for medium-sized markets from the Illinois Broadcasters Association. Blake hosts the "DBR Morning Show with DJ Blake" for WDBR-FM in Springfield.

Ben Tobin ’05

was awarded Best Attorney and his law office, Pratt & Tobin P.C., won the Best Law Office category at the “Best of the Best” event hosted by the two newspapers that serve the Metro East side of St. Louis.

Rebecca Vortman ’05

was promoted to associate department head for the Department of Population Health Nursing Science at University of Illinois Chicago.

Julia Legate ’06

earned a Doctorate of Educational Leadership in May 2022. Her dissertation was titled, “Pre-K and Kindergarten Teachers Perceptions of Kindergarten Readiness.”

founded the KASE Project. It is a central Illinois non-profit dedicated to supporting the autism community. They installed a playground communication board at Southwind Park in Springfield for children with limited verbal speech to enjoy the park with their peers.

began a Ph.D. program in nuclear engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Matthew Murphy ’16

is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was also named the recipient of the Illinois Corn Marketing Growers Fellowship. Finally, his publication, an assessment of two statistical approaches for variance genome-wide association studies in plants, has been selected as Editor's Choice in Heredity.

began a new position as resident physician at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. 

Noah Yantis ’18

started a new position as the executive director of the Congressional Western Caucus. He is looking forward to growing the caucus in order to keep advocating for rural and western ways of life.

a navy veteran, wrote his first book "Destruction: How the Democratic Party & RINOs Almost Destroyed America." It was published by Defiance Press & Publishing and released in December.
