Illinois College Drumline to kick off 42nd Fine Arts Series

10.05.2021

The Illinois College Drumline will perform outdoors on Sunday, Oct. 10, at 3 p.m. in front of Rammelkamp Chapel.

Founded in 2020, the drumline is an entertaining and vibrant ensemble that brings energy and enthusiasm to every performance.

Students from many different majors make up the group, which performs at IC athletic competitions, campus celebrations, and community events. During this family-oriented program, the drumline will perform their current repertoire, as well as involve the younger members of the audience with some hands-on playing opportunities.

The drumline program is directed by Illinois College faculty member Tyler Carpenter. A Jacksonville native and graduate of Jacksonville High School, Carpenter earned his bachelor’s degree from South Dakota State University and a master’s degree in music performance from the University of Akron. He spent four years performing with the Cleveland Browns drumline and has experience with a comprehensive range of percussive styles.

Individual tickets for the Illinois College Fine Arts Series are $15 each and season tickets, which include all five concerts, are available for $70. Students of all ages receive free admission. Tickets are available for purchase in advance by phone at 217.245.3192.
