Attending convocations is a graduation requirement at Illinois College. These events create a shared experience designed to give us something new to think about and discuss with each other. They are intended to foster an academic and social environment marked by a pervasive sense of concern for the intellectual, moral, social, aesthetic, and spiritual development of our community.
During your first semester, the entire first-year class will attend special first-year convocations together at least three times. These specially selected events cover important topics like diversity and equity, healthy choices and wellness, and the summer common reading. Your First-Year Seminar professor will list these special convocations on your syllabus and you will find out more about them in the fall.
