Angela Gonzales Balfe
Angela Gonzales Balfe retired from law enforcement following a 35-year career that included assignments as a patrol officer, criminal investigator, DARE officer, grant administrator, assistant director of emergency management, and sergeant in corrections. She played an instrumental role in bringing the concepts of community policing, school resource officers, mandatory arrests involving domestic assaults; effective communication for officers; response to terrorism, active shooter, internet crimes, and prison rape elimination act. As a lifelong learner, Angela believes social change occurs through continuous reading, writing, critical thinking, and applying ever-changing concepts in the field of criminal justice and homeland security. She spent over 25 years teaching criminal justice and homeland security courses in higher education, police academies, and public safety agencies.
