Bio
Dr. Charles Riggs power generation, energy delivery, and safety experience combined with presenting engineering courses at the University of Missouri-Columbia bring current industrial experience to the new engineering program. Work at Ameren’s Energy and Operating Centers’ required Dr. Riggs to effectively work with a diverse worldwide work force which valued equity and inclusion of all.
Dr. Charles Riggs doctoral research involved laboratory studies of aerosol transport in a pressurized water reactor containment building after a transient event. He is now working on simulation of aerosol transport in nuclear and environmental applications using Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) methods.
I look forward to working with Illinois College students to develop engineering skills, learn about DSMC aerosol transport, and draw on my industrial experience to know what to expect as an engineer. Courses I present use the ADDIE (Analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate) model, where student evaluation of the course is essential.
