Nicole Guzman '25
Nicole Guzman ’25, a marketing major and business management minor at Illinois College, took her career aspirations to the next level through a summer internship at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.

Guzman’s role in the venue rentals department immersed her in event planning and coordination, a field she hopes to explore further. "I feel like more than an intern—I’ve been a true assistant," Nicole shared. Her responsibilities included drafting event itineraries, assisting with room layouts, and shadowing tours for corporate clients and special events.
The internship challenged Guzman to step outside her comfort zone. She navigated the complexities of office dynamics, particularly adjusting to a structured supervisory style. "I’ve learned how important communication is—whether through email, meetings, or logs. It’s a skill I’ll carry with me in any career."
Guzman credits IC’s Career Readiness and Experiential Learning Office for their support in securing the opportunity. She encourages peers to consider internships, saying, “Do it. Even if it’s not perfectly aligned with your major, it’s a chance to grow and discover what works for you.”
Her standout moment? Running an event independently while her supervisor was away—an experience that boosted her confidence and showcased her growing expertise in event management.
